Easy Sunday

Nothin beats an Easy Sunday.

Course as is pretty usual here, it has been an Easy weekend all over.
Mom has been keeping food out for the critters and bird feeders full up with our Kitty TV premiums, so we are getting some good programming.  The woodpecker channel had some shows and we have been enjoying quite a bit of squirrel programs.

I'm embarrassed to say that mom was way off base in identifying those birds she said were Flickers.  They have been back since, squillions of them even.  I was able to get a better look and set mom straight,  They are European Starlings!  Mom says it has been a while since she has seen so many in our yard.  She calls them the Lawn Patrol on account of the they walk through the grassy yards and look for bugs an stuff to eat.

Not the greatest pic-shers, but these are the starlings.

They have really cool spotty feathers, and a long, point and skeery beak, mol!

They were all makin so much noise earlier that I couldn't say we were havin a quiet Easy Sunday, though it has still been a nice one.

Have a good one, everybuddy!

Easy Sunday

As you see, I am pretty much summing up our Easy Sunday and weekend.

Course, mom did run some errands yesterday and did some yard clean up.  She and Wriggley went for morning staggers walkies both yesterday and today.  Mom said Wriggley did ok and they proly managed a mile both days.

We, well mostly me, enjoyed some catio time today and bird watching.

Mom always puts the sprinklers on in our backyard on Sunday mornings.  The birds sure love the opportunity for a shower, especially the hummerbirds.  One even came to check me out while I was on the catio.

Not the greatest pic, but can you see the hummer?

Maybe it's on account of the heat or the drought but we get a lot of action at our bird baths.  We have about four different saucers out in our yard.  Today we had some visitors that we hadn't seen before.  Our flashy box doesn't have the range so mom took some good looks through her field glasses and then we looked them up in our bird book.

First we saw these yellow birds.  We knew they weren't Goldfinches and mom was stumped until the male dipped his head for her to see his black cap.  From the book we could figure it was this guy...

Wilson's Warbler

We saw a male and a female.
There was so much action at the baths today that mom refilled them three times!  Third time was when she saw a group of these guys...

Northern Flicker

There were four of them.  Mom figured they were juveniles because their heads were all grey.  Their body markings were definitely Flicker, though.  Mom took a chance while they were still in our yard to do that third refill on the bird baths.  She was hoping if she scared them off they wouldn't go far and come back for more water.  So far we haven't noticed them come back :(  When mom lived in Davis, she said she would see them alot.  This is the first time we've noticed them in our yard where we live now.

Well, I'm going to get back to my Easy Sunday...

until dinner time at least.

Have a good one, everybuddy!

As my world turns...

 Hey everybuddy!
My kitty sisters are letting me check in with a bit of a pupdate.

It was two weeks ago today that my world got all wonky again.  I still have trouble with my balance and I stagger quite a bit.  Mom says if I didn't try to move so fast I wouldn't have so much trouble and I wouldn't fall over.  But mom, I'm a Lab!

Bol!  I guess it is the stubborn streak in me.
At least I can finally have a pretty good shake off without falling over now.

Compared to last year, mom thinks my recovery process is going slower.  This time she got an herbal suppley-mint from the doc that will help.  It is supposed to be really yucky tasting.  I sure haven't noticed mom giving me anything like that...just this glob of yummy kitty stinky goodness that I get twice a day before my real meals.  Hmmm...I hope mom is following through with the stuffs...

I still have a pretty strong head tilt.
Last year it was to the left, this year it is to the right.
Gotta mix things up, bol!

I guess a bonus out of this is that I've gotten to stay in the house during the day.  The first couple of days that I felt really bad I spent most of my time sleeping 2 feet from the front door, bol.  I think it was the second day of this that mom came home from work and found me stuck in the kitchen (she didn't expect me to feel up to moving).  I was trying to get to my water dish and even with my track shoes on, I was stuck standing in one place with my feets sliding out from under me.  Bol!  yeah, I can laugh about it now but at the time it was a crazy predicament.  Good thing mom came home early that day.  Now though, the kitchen is off limits to me and my water dish is on the carpet :)

I'm looking forward to being able to get mom out on some walkies.  We've tried a couple at night, but I think cause I don't see so well anymore that my balance seems worse, especially if the street is dark.

Well, I just wanted to let everbuddy know I'm doing ok.  Thank you for the POTP, purrs, prayers, and well wishes.  Mom and I sure do appreciate it.

Pardon me while I turn on my pathetic look and see if I can't work mom over for a cookie...

 oof!  woe is me!

Woofs,
~Wriggley

Chippin in when it counts

A week ago now Wriggley developed that vestibular disease bit again.  It's been a little tough for mom to juggle her work and his care.

At least she was prepared with all of his gear and when he couldn't walk, his lifting harness worked like a charm and mom was able to carry him without breaking her back much.

We've been helping out too as much as we can.  Of course for us that mostly means staying out of Wriggley's way so he doesn't fall over on us.  Even so, mom has had to help him eat and that gets a bit messy.

I volunteered to take on crumb patrol...you know...just doing my bit to help an all...

I am very thorough...

Gotta make sure the spoon is clean too!

Hang on...I need to shift it a bit..

That's better!

Wait...it'll be easier if I just take it out of the dish...

Oh, Yeah!  Now I can finish cleaning the dish!

Ok...I think my work here is done...

Have a great weekend, everybuddy!
