Tell Me Why

When mom is in the kitchen I always sit or hang out behind her.  Like this:

A re-enactment

And yesterday morning as mom was fixing our breakfast was no exception.

tra la la!  here I am, minding my own business...

Then mom stepped backwards... and stepped on me!  She crunched my paw but good and I hollered at her!  Yowch!

Mom is always doing this to me!  She says it's my fault and I shouldn't be behind her like that.

Since I'm always behind her, I say she should know to look before she moves!

Why can't mom learn?

  1. Yes! She should look before she moves. Great clodhopper!

  2. Yes, she should learn! :-) My kids trained me to be careful around them. You should train her too :-)

  3. Yes, moms should learn! Ours is forever tripping over us (the boys), but she doesn't seem to get it that of course we'll be right behind or beside her if there's the potential for food.

  4. Our Mom does that to us sometimes too. But we pretty much have her trained now to watch out for us. You just need to train that Mom a little better to look before she leaps. Take care.

  5. Our mom is pretty good about looking where she is going. She jokes that with all the kittens she walks looking at the floor all the time. But sometimes she still gets somebody - usually a kitten who can't seem to stay out from underfoot. Maybe back up just a little to stay safe...

  8. Oh yeah, your human is a slow learner! My human has stepped on my foot, and Binga's a few times, but she seems to have figured out how to steer clear of us.

  9. Pip, the same thing happens to me!! I like to "help" my mom in the kitchen, but it never fails, I get stepped on at some point! I agree with you, moms should just know that we are there!! Or give us lots of treats for stepping on us!!!

  10. My Mom is very slow to learn and after nearly tripping over me in the kitchen, she looks behind her now.

  11. I thought mummies had eyes in the back of their head!! Perhaps your mummy needs glasses on the back of her head to help her see and save your pawsies from being squished :) "shoulda gone to specsavers" hee he

  12. Mom nearly stepped on Boo the other day while she was coming out of the cold box(Mom was with foods in her hand) and Boo was right behind her. I have learned if she moves and I know she has not noticed I am sitting close by I MEOW!

  13. Sounds to me like the "cat sit-behind" is an awful lot like the "cat run-under-the-feet" which happens frequently at this house - LOL!

  14. I have to agree with your Mom on this one! It drives me nuts when Cody does the same thing and then I feel so bad when I accidentally step on him!

  15. Moms are funny! They should have eyes in the backs of their heads! Mom steps on me sometimes too!

  16. My mum does that to me sometimes too. But then she feels bad and I get ham, so it's nearly worth it.

  19. We are both VERY underfoot kitties! We especially love ta stand right over his shoes or right behind him. We have taught him ta look all around before he moves and to shuffle his feet! MOL!

  20. And they say we aren't trainable!! Well! *huff* I pride myself in always being underfoot. My motto is: Be underfoot or be under-appreciated!!

  21. Moms and Dads are funny that way ... it takes them a LONG time to learn things. We sort of have ours trained (finally!) now; they kind of shuffle in the house so they don't step on us...
