Lookin good from afar

Hullo.
erm...it's me...Sharpie...yeah, it has been awhile.
I am just hangin here, sucking up to Momma yet again.

The other day, Ditto and I had to go to the V-E-T for our regular check ups.  I didn't really make a big deal of things until about half way there on the car ride.  Then I started to voice my complaints over the whole ordeal.

When we arrived, I went first for the weigh-in and, well, you know the usual indignities.  I wasn't too happy about the situation. I stayed on the exam table when it was Ditto's turn and I decided to take my frustrations out on him.  Then when Momma grabbed me to put me back in my ptu, I sorta turned on her...

When it was my turn again for the doc to check me out, I told Momma with hisses and even some clawr action No Way!  They dumped made me come out of my ptu, but the chance to explore around didn't make me feel any better.  So the doc did my exam from a distance.  With all of my hissing she could tell my teefs looked good, tee hee!  Then I shredded on Momma some more as she wrangled me back into the ptutee hee!

At least one thing Momma got right was back at home, Ditto and I got separate space to decompress and then we all had some treats together.

So here I am letting Momma know there are no hard feelings, I'm sorry I shredded your hands and arms I forgive you for making me go through that check-up business.
tee hee!

Writer's block

oh, I gotta get goin with a post!
hmmm...what to say, what to say...

What do you think, Lilly.  Should we tell them about our v-e-t check ups a couple of weeks ago, and how you had to have that stick poked up your bum three times cuz the numbers didn't seem right?

No?

How about yesterday when momma didn't give you breakfast and packed you off again to the v-e-t so you could get your teefies cleaned on account of your yucky gums and stinky breath?  And then this morning, because you thought your breakfast would be forgotten again, you tried to get at Sharpie's even when momma had your dish of food too?

No still?
okay then...

I guess we got nothin...

This calls for pupcakes!

Hey everybuddy!
I had a special doctor's appointment today.

And you know what?
My check up went great and I got some pawsome results!

I told mom we needed to celebrate...

with pupcakes!
er...you will make these for me, right?
Please?

mmm...peanutty butter pupcakes!
Don't they look delicious?  I'm surprised I'm not drooling, bol!  But we gotta wait for them to cool.

 Okay, here we go!
So what'll you have?  Frosted or unfrosted?

One of each?
Good choice!

::nom nom nom::

Join me, won't you?  Just don't eat mom's fingers like I did, bol!

My wonky world

by Wriggley.

Mom and I have been having all kinds of fun lately.
On the weekends, we take a long walk around the nearby fields and play a bit of fetch or maybe tag to boot.

Mom has even let me off of my long fun line.

We also went back to the wildlife refuge.  It was a lot different there this time of year.  The ponds near the walking trail were dry.  We mostly just saw squirrels and bunnies.  They did have a sort of demonstration nest box that was new to us.

We have to get up early to do our adventuring cause it gets pretty hot here.  I get my breakfast and mom has me relax for an hour or so (I got sick once when I went running with mom too soon after eating).

Yesterday mom got up a bit late for me to eat and relax and then for us to go out to the fields while it was still cool.  We stayed home and mom planned to go shopping instead.

A little later in the morning, mom called me to go outside and take care of my business.  That's when I noticed it...my world had gone wonky!

Do you like my cute head tilt?
Except I can't help it...

I staggered down the hallway to mom.  I couldn't keep my rear end under me.  To say mom was a bit freaked out would be an understatement!  Mom helped me out to potty and kept me from falling back into it.  Then she called the dogtor's office.  Our usual doc isn't in on Caturday's but another doc is and we were able to get an appointment for the afternoon.

Mom kept me quiet while we waited.  She got the car all ready and then tried to help me out of the house.  By this time I really didn't want to walk!  I got sort of close to the car, BOL, but then mom had to carry me.  To say I almost broke her back would be the second understatement!

I was ok in the car and we got to the doc's office.  We were early and mom parked kind of far away so we'd be in some shade and could maybe chillax outside for a bit.  But then I didn't want to help mom help me get out of the car... Well, somehow she heaved me out but I wasn't having anything to do with this walking business.  Mom figured it would be just as hard to get me back in the car to move closer, so she just said a quick prayer for strength and carried me.

Have I ever mentioned that I weigh 70 pounds?

This is me and my scrawny little mom.  BOL!

Mom made it to the doorway of the doc's office plopped me back on the ground.  I still wasn't wanting to move.  At this point the folks in the office helped me in.

The doc checked me out all over.  He pounded my knees with a little hammer, pushed all over on my hips, and took long looks into my ears.  It turns out that I have Idiopathic Vestibular Disease.  The good news is I will recover, though I may still have a head tilt...which really isn't so bad considering that cute look could score me a lot of treats...ahem...  The not so good news for mom at least is that my recovery could take a few to several weeks and she's gotta help me around.

I think I am getting used to my wobbley-ness and lack of balance.  Today hasn't been too bad.  I don't walk too well on floors so mom has everything I need on the carpeted areas of the house.  Last night especially mom had to hoist me up to get me to go outside, bol!  At least so far today I am being more cooperative :)

Mom has helped me eat.  Last night she held my bowl and this morning I was able to use my standing dish.  Mom was worried I might feel nauseous and bomit my food all over the place, but I'm able to keep food down ok and I don't feel so bad as to say no to a treat!

Oof!  This takes a lot out of a pup!

My kitty sisters will be taking advantage of an Easy Sunday as long as I don't fall over on them and I am going to try to do the same.  Mom said something about needing to rest her back...

Woofs, everybuddy!  Thanks for listening.
Have a great day and week ahead!

Easy Sunday

Here I am enjoying an afternoon sunpuddle.

aah!  Nothing beats a good sunpuddle, know what I mean?

Well, I'm finally able to relax without having to go to the litter box every five minutes.
Mom noticed me doing that on Tuesday night.  So on Wednesday she hauled me off to the v-e-t.  Mom gets especially nervous with me when stuff like this happens cause my kidneys aren't so good to begin with.

Anywho, there I was at the v-e-t.  Surprisingly, the Doc came in to see me before a Technician had a chance to do her thing.  I think I actually escaped the indignity of having my temperature taken!  The Doc checked me out all over and was, um, squeezing around my bladder to see if she could poke me for a sample.  I couldn't help myself...I sort of... um... piddled right there on the counter!
Ahem!

The Doc was happy enough to use that for testing, and I at least I exscaped one sticking.  Unfortunately mom wouldn't let me leave without letting them steal some of my bloods, to be sure my kidneys are still doing ok an all.

They sent us home with some anti-botics and I am doing much better now.  We heard back that my blood results were ok for me and I've even gained a pound since my last visit!  Besides the urinary tract infection, I had a good check up.

I'm going to get back to my naps and sunpuddlin...

Have a great Easy Sunday, everybuddy!

I can explain...

My room was in a bit of disarray this morning when the lady came in.

What?

See, it's like this...

Yesterday morning the lady put me in a ptu (without any breakfast, I might add) and took me away in this big metal machine.  First she took me to the place she calls work.  But I was left all by myself in that metal machine for a squillion hoursAfter the squillion hours Soon we were moving again.

I could not believe where we ended up.  Yes.  The v-e-t.  Again. (More on that later)
But then the lady left me there all by myself!  Again.

I'm not sure what all happened next.  I had a nice sleep though.
When I woke up, things just wouldn't stop spinning.  Even after the lady brought me back home, my room was spinning and spinning!

See, in all of that spinning, things must've gotten tossed around.

Yeah...

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Wordy Wednesday: Loopy!

I was at the v-e-t today getting my teefs cleaned.

Mom says I'm still a bit loopy from the anesthesia.
I don't know what she is talking about...

It's not me that is wobbly...it's mom's poor camera skills...

And no, I'm not leaning or seeming to have a hard time staying upright in this picture...

It's the camera...

Instead

I've been thinking about whether or not to tell the story about my tail..the tale of my tale...

It was one of those things that happen on a weekend in the wee hours of the morn. Mom's not sure exactly what happened and it isn't something I've cared to talk about - it was a very scary and traumatic event, after all!

Now I don't want anybuddy to think badly of anypuppy around here, but let's just say a certain black dog might have been involved and leave it at that, k?

Instead, let me tell you about a more recent harrowing experience - my check-up at the v-e-t!

Yes, I had to go.
Again.
Is it me, or am having to go more often than once a year?  Okay, so maybe mom noticed me going to the litter box...
...every other minute...
...and not really piddling much...

Mom stayed home from work one day last week, which was nice until the time she stuffed me and Pip into our ptu's and took us on a squillion hour car ride. I tried to tell her she didn't need to take us, that wouldn't she much rather spend her time taking Wriggley for another long walkie, and she ought to turn the car around straight-away.
::sigh::
She didn't listen.

So Pip and I had to suffer the usual violations. Our bloods had to take some tests again. Remember when my blood buns scored kind of high on the tests? Apparently that isn't good news, 'specially since my kidneys are poorly to begin with. Well, on the last test I took and even on this one, my buns got a lower score! That sure made mom feel better.

Pip and I both had good check-ups. We've both also lost some weight since our last v-e-t visits. The doc said we are healthy and our body condition is fine, but it wouldn't be good if we kept losing weight. Get this - she prescribed more food! Isn't that pawsome?!? oh, yeah...and I got some anti-botics to take so I won't feel like I need to piddle all the time.

Speaking of food...

Isn't it about dinner time?

Easy Sunday at last!

I had quite the week so I'm enjoying a well earned Easy Sunday.

Last week on Monday, I had to go to the v-e-t!  I suppose I need to practice my PTU escape drills more...but then it proly didn't help much that the day before Wriggley tried to eat my head.  Thankfully mom was right there to make him spit me out.  I had a bit of a bloody nose and a fat lip but I was acting ok and still wanted to eat, so mom didn't take me to an emergency place and we just went to our regular Doc on Monday.

The Doc checked my face and nothing was broken.  I got a poked with some anti-biotics plus I got some pain pills to take home .  Mom had them test my bloods again since we were there.  We haven't heard the results yet.  Keep your paws crossed that my blood has smaller buns this time. (Who knew blood had buns?)

Mom has been in my face every day with the flashy box since.

You can see my left cheek was a little puffy.  Now I'm about back to normal.

This is me this morning.

My new nickname seems to be scarface tho...  ::sigh::

Mom says I'm bossy with Wriggley and I ask for it.  I suppose I do get in his face...but I didn't think that was what I was meowin at him at the time.  Mom also says I should learn my lesson, cause, yeah...even now I'm still bossy and in his face.

Well, I'm gonna get back to my Easy Sunday and maybe I'll think about that.

ZZZZzzzzz...

Maybe...
Have a good one, everybuddy!

Wriggley's Corner

Coming to you from the cone of silence (can you tell mom is a Get Smart fan?  ::sigh::)

A week ago yesterday was my 9 year Gotcha-versary.  Apparently 9 is the year for teeth cleaning and stitches...who knew?!?!?

I had my regular check up this past December.  For those of you who may not know, a few years ago I had two tumors removed.  Both were malignant yet neither was a type of that yucky "C" that is likely to spread.  Since then, though, any new lump mom finds on me freaks.her.out.

Well, I had two, one on either flank, that mom had been keeping an eye on since May.  Plus I've had one on my hip for about a year (it was staying small).  My Doc didn't think the lumps on my flanks felt like fatty tumors usually do.  The best way to know for sure is to cut them out and send them off to the lab for testing.  What with my previous history, mom wanted to know for sure.  It turned out that I needed my teeth cleaned, too, and my doctor's office was running dental specials in February...do you see where this is going?  Mom figured to get everything taken care of at once.  But on my gotcha day, mom???  Sheesh!

Now here I am, a week later, with a sparkling smile and sporting a bit of a Frankenlabbie look.

We got the call on Monday that all of my lumps were benign, so all is good!

Mom says that if she couldn't see my stitchies, she wouldn't think I'd had surgery.  Yeah, it takes a lot to slow this Lab down!  I especially get excited when mom comes home in the afternoon and takes off the cone.  I guess I'm not supposed to run or jump...well...I'm not jumping at any rate...

At least my gotcha day wasn't a total wash.
Mom brought back some soovenir toys for me!

My Chile Walrus and Texas Sock Monkey.
You can tell Sock Monkey is from Texas cause he's so big :)

AND mom took a couple of days off of work just to take special care of me right after my surgery.

I get my stitchies out next week on Tuesday.  I can't wait!  This being calm and no playing is really boring!  And, I have to say, I think mom is having too much fun dressing me up in t-shirts and stuff!

I do wanna say thanks to everybuddy for the well wishes and concern.  I really am feeling just great.  Mom made this movie to show where my stichies are and how I am still moving around normally and as crazy as ever (her words), bol!

Woofs,

Since When?

When has our mom ever paid attention to special events and goings on?!?  She routinely forgets our birthdays and gotcha days.  Did you know this was Take Your Cat to the Vet Week?
And would you believe what our mom went and did?!?
Yes!
She actually took me and Pip to the V-e-t!!!!

I'll have you know I checked our bloggie archive
and it has NOT been a year since my last visit!

Mom kept me closed in the bathroom my private dining room after serving my breakfast.  I was relaxing and quite enjoying myself when mom came back in, grabbed me, and literally stuffed me in my carrier!  Apparently she had done the same thing to Pip while she was hanging out in her room.

Neither Pip nor I had the chance to use the facilities before we left, and mom adds an awful lot of water to my food especially, since my kidneys aren't too good.  Pip and I both hollered at mom to pull over or turn around cause we had to go...but she wouldn't listen.  What's a cat to do, I ask you?  Mom can't expect us to hold it for a squillion couple of hours...

At the vet's office mom kept sayin how stinky we were.  Well?!?  What does she expect?  But then she kept calling us Stinky Number One and Stinky Number Two to the Doc and Technicians.  She forgot to bring any extra towells so we made mom wet and stinky too, mol!

Pip was having a regular check up and my blood needed to do some tests.  Mom wants to be sure my kidney's numbers haven't changed or gone bad.  The Doc said we were both fine.  We'll both have to wait to hear how our bloods did.

So after we got back home mom had some laundry to do (hee hee!).  And then I wanted to be sure everything smelled ok afterwards...

uh huh, I think mom did ok on the clean-up...

Don't worry!  I did not stay in there for long!
Purrs,

Suspicious, Yet Thankful, Thursday

Since mom tricked me last week and closed me in my little cage, I'm reluctant to nap in it any more.  And it was such a nice place to hide, too.

Mom got the call from the Doc on Toesday with my and Minnie's results.  Everything was ok for both of us.  Thanks, everybuddy for the good thoughts!  We could feel it and they helped!

Mom was hoping for something more definite to explain my accidents.  My kidneys aren't too good anymore, so maybe that's why I'm leaking a bit.  The good news is that all my bloodwork numbers hadn't really changed since my last check up!

At any rate, I'm supposed to take an herbal tea pill...don't ask me to say what it is, much less spell it...but it's supposed to help me out.  We'll see.

Mom keeps notes on all of our habits and since all of this started, she has been scribbling down who, what, when, where, and how in terms of our litter box doins.  ::sigh::  And she goes around smelling every place I've been sleeping.  She's crazy, I tell you!
I hope this herb pill works...for all of our sanity!

I WAS in Trouble!

After my little, er, accident on Sunday, mom was able to put my bed back together on Tuesday.  We spent two nights sleeping on the floor - mom said she didn't trust me on the bed without the mattress protector, and we had to wait for it to dry.  Tuesday night was our first night sleeping on the bed again.  You won't believe this, and I'm not sure I should even admit it...but... it happened again!

Mom might never have known except that Minnie was sticking her nose in this one spot on the bed... ::sigh::  At least this time my mess did not go all the way  through to the mattress protector.

Regardless, I was still in trouble!  Mom made me go on this squillion hour long car ride today...to the V-E-T!

First, though, mom came home from work early, and I just happened to be having a nap in my cave, and she shut the bathroom door on me!  (That's where my cave is.).  She came in later and, as I was still in the middle of my nap, shut me in my cave!  Minnie must have been in trouble too for telling on me, cause mom came back a few minutes later and put her in the other ptu.

Oh, I begged and pleaded with mom to stop the car and let me out; to turn around and take us back home.  She wouldn't listen.  ::sigh::

Minnie and I had to be poked and prodded.  They took some our blood and they even stuck us both to take some of our pee!  Can you believe that?!?  Our blood and pee has to take some tests.  I hope they pass.  The Doc will know the results next week and will hopefully be able to help me with my, er, piddling problem.

In the mean time, mom says she's thankful that I don't like to sleep on her head!
