What could be better than a game of chase the wand toy, you ask?

Well, how about a game of chase the wand toy through the shreddy papers!

Woo hoo!

I was playin for a while before I thought to make this movie.
Our game was winding down by this point...

if you can't see it, a direct link is here.  Oh, and mom wanted
me to say that it wasn't easy to hold the camera and work
the wand toy...Whatever...

Whew!

I think I'm ready for a break.

I hope your havin a fun Monday!

Surprise!

If you are a classical music fan, you might know of Haydn's Symphony No. 94 in G Major, nicknamed "Surprise" for the second movement.  If not, well, have a listen anyways.  It's really good!

At any rate, just keep that in mind as you watch this little movie...

Hee hee!

Have a great weekend, everybuddy!

Toesday with Minnie...???

Bol!
Aww, it's me...Wriggley!  I don't guess I had anybuddy fooled.
Our kitty friends over at the Lounge wanted to see me in my track shoes so Minnie said I could post today.

If you don't mind if I break from Toesday tradition...this is what I really think of wearing these shoes...

phhhffft!

Then our friends Marley, Ayla, and Iza wondered what we did with the red cone that they noticed in a Wordless Wednesday picture.

Since the cones are mostly mine, I thought I'd tackle that question too.

Do you see Minnie back there?
She is snoopervising, making sure I do a good job on this post.

I have a few of these and mom will sometimes set them up and we do heeling patterns.  This one is kept handy so we can play target games.  Mom will set it out and tell me to target, and I'll run over and bring it back touch it with my nose.

"Target!"

Well, I know nobuddy asked about the ring toys, but I'm going to tell you about them anyway.  Mom gets some crazy ideas for things to teach me and this was one of them.

A direct link is here.

Ok...maybe I was just showing off there...

How'd I do, Minnie?

Have a great Toesday, everybuddy!

Easy Sunday

Hey, everybuddy!
My kitty sisters are busy napping or watching TV out the big screen windows.
I thought I'd give another pupdate on how I'm doing.

I ended up getting my traction shoes the same day as my harness so mom made an appointment for me to see the doc on the following Monday, which was last week.

Mom suited me all up to get me to the doc's office.  I only wore three of the shoes, bol!  I have an ouchie on my lucky paw and I wouldn't let mom put the shoe on that paw.  We drove in mom's work truck.  I use a ramp to get in and out of it and I didn't have any trouble "walking the plank."  Everybuddy at the doctor's office was impressed with my gear, bol!  and my three shoes :)

For this appointment we were seeing my usual doctor.  She was happy with how well I had come in a week's time.  She gave mom some options on things to try, like herbal remedies, if my recovering seems to stagnate.  Then I got an "adjustment".  The doc had this funny tool that punched or zapped me along my spine.  I wasn't so sure about it at the time but afterward my back felt pretty good.

Since last week I have been taking mom on our usual walking route, and weekend mornings we go for longer walkies and playtime.  It is still awkward for me to turn around sometimes and I still lose my balance if I'm moving or turning to fast.  Here's a movie of me playing this morning, so you can see how I'm moving now.  Mom thinks that if you didn't know me or that I had vestibular disease, you proly wouldn't think there was anything wrong with me.

 Not bad, huh?
Mom always has me fetching up that little hill.  She says it is good for my bum muscles, bol!  Oh, and I always run out to the bumper and then just walk back, bol!  Hey, I am thirteen, remember?

I worried mom a bit today on our walk, though, before this movie was taken.  I sort of had a couple of wonky episodes when we were walking around the field.  It was just that I had a thorn in my paw and I couldn't keep my balance limping.  Then on our way home, we were just a couple of houses down from ours, I fell.  I was walking a bit behind mom so she didn't see what happened.  She thinks I've been a bit "off" since.  But really, I don't feel so bad as to say no to a cookie...

and even a carrot...

So mom might be talking to the doc again about those herbs.  In the meantime, we're gonna enjoy our Easy Sunday and hope you do too!
Thanks, everybuddy!

Woofs,

What was that all about?

hai!  It's me...Hollie!

No, wait!  I'm really here...

Now do you see me?
I figgered everybuddy might be wondering what all of my hiding is about.
Well, the cat trees are a good spot for dodging the pawparazzi.
But I'm hiding behind this fan for another reason.
It seems that there is a strange and unidentified light that invades our house.  It comes in through the window in this room and near this fan.  It is the pawfect place for me to hide and try to catch it!

Sometimes it will be on the wall and sometimes the floor.  It moves back and forth in a tricky fashion, and even hides under things!

See what I mean?

I usually see this light sneaking around in the evenings.  I hurry to eat my dinners and sometimes I have to holler at the lady to let me out of my room and then I'm on guard.  If I don't get here in time to try to catch it, why, who knows what trouble it can cause!

ok...sure...I haven't caught it yet and we're all still here...
wait...
there it is on the wall!

I gotta go!
um...bye!

Thankful Thursday

with Wriggley.

I hope you don't mind seeing me again.
I wanted to give everybuddy a pupdate and say thanks again for the purrs, prayers, and well-wishes.
They are working!

Remember the movie in my post on Monday?  Well, that was me on Sunday.
Now look at me!

Since Tuesday, mom has been walking me down the streets a few houses to a common grassy area for me to do my business.  We go twice in the mornings and sometimes later in the day if the sidewalk isn't too hot.  Tuesday night we walked about a quarter of a mile and last night we did a whole half of a mile!  I am pretty steady if I don't walk too fast.  Sometimes I stumble on curbs, and mom has to steady me still when I go potty.  ahem!  But I can balance on three legs now to leave pee mails!  BOL!  I just can't leave my messages very high up on things...  Turning around is sometimes still awkward for me too.

Oh, check out what came in the mail today.

It's the special lifting harness mom got for me.
It's a pretty cool harness.  I'm not sure about the back part of it...it's pretty close to some, er, sensitive areas.  At least it does not get in the way of any, um...activities.

I'm not so sure about the whole lifting bit either...
oh well.

Mom  says once we get the special traction shoes she ordered for me, she'll take me back to the doc's for a check up.  Something about getting me there with her back in one piece...I'm not sure what that is about...

Thanks again, everybuddy!
Now...

...how about some soccer!

Woofs,

I still got game!

Woofs, everybuddy!
Gosh, thanks for the get well wishes.  They mean a lot to me and my mom.

You know, she is not letting me lie around and feel sorry for myself.  Since I am adjusting and getting around a bit better since this all started on Caturday, mom is making sure to get me up and have me move about.  We even walk around in the front yard.  And this morning I went with mom to the mail box (it is just one house down from ours).

I have not lost my positive Labra-tude!

I'm even up for a low key game of fetch.

Well, almost.  BOL!  Ok, maybe I was a little bit movie-box shy there.  After mom turned it off I did play some more.  Sometimes I forget myself and move a bit too fast in my excitement and then I lose my balance.  I am usually wearing a harness outside and mom will help steady me especially when we are walking.

This whole situation really brought home to her about being able to move me when I can't move.  She was using a towel sling on my rear end but it was hard for her to hold up my rear and help me out with my front end at the same time.  I tend to shut down and not want to do anything when anybuddy starts "man-handling" me.  Mom ordered me a special lifting harness and some traction booties.  We'll see how that goes when it all comes, bol.

Well, If you'll excuse me...
I'm gonna see if I can't work mom over for a cookie...

Score!

nom, nom, nom

Wordy Wednesday: Loopy!

I was at the v-e-t today getting my teefs cleaned.

Mom says I'm still a bit loopy from the anesthesia.
I don't know what she is talking about...

It's not me that is wobbly...it's mom's poor camera skills...

And no, I'm not leaning or seeming to have a hard time staying upright in this picture...

It's the camera...

Easy Sunday Hollie-day

That's Hollie day...not holiday...get it?

Um, yeah, well it's me again...remember me?

The other kitties are having their Easy Sunday afternoon naps.  While they're in the other room, I get my turn in the house to explore and stuff.

I'm gonna watch a some kitty TV.  The bird channel is a little different out here.

Our weather is a bit cloudy today.  The lady had to get the front and back yards mowed before we get any rain.  Despite the clouds she decided to put the water on in the back.  The birdies seemed to appreciate it.  She went outside and saw them flying through the water and hopping around, having a bit of bath time fun.  Or maybe I should say shower time...

Check out this little fella!

There isn't much else going on around here.

I think I'm ready for my Easy Sunday afternoon naps!

Have a good one, everybuddy!

Thursday Tails

My furiends over at the Lounge said they liked my tail action in my last movie.

I used to have a long and beautiful tail.  Well, now it is just a cute little nubbin.

Hee hee!

In my mind, tho', my tail is as long as ever and can be as expressive as anybuddy's.

Lookit!

Mol!

Communication breakdown

This actually happened about 87 squillion years ago last month or so, but since I'm just now getting help to finish my post, let's say this was sometime last week, k?

A birdie was perched outside at the top of the kitchen window.
I'm sure you will all see how obvious it is from actions and meows in my movie that I was demanding mom politely asking mom to open the window for me

Well, apparently we had a communication breakdown since, you guessed it, mom did not open the window!

What's a cat to do, I ask you?

Wriggley's Corner

Coming to you from the cone of silence (can you tell mom is a Get Smart fan?  ::sigh::)

A week ago yesterday was my 9 year Gotcha-versary.  Apparently 9 is the year for teeth cleaning and stitches...who knew?!?!?

I had my regular check up this past December.  For those of you who may not know, a few years ago I had two tumors removed.  Both were malignant yet neither was a type of that yucky "C" that is likely to spread.  Since then, though, any new lump mom finds on me freaks.her.out.

Well, I had two, one on either flank, that mom had been keeping an eye on since May.  Plus I've had one on my hip for about a year (it was staying small).  My Doc didn't think the lumps on my flanks felt like fatty tumors usually do.  The best way to know for sure is to cut them out and send them off to the lab for testing.  What with my previous history, mom wanted to know for sure.  It turned out that I needed my teeth cleaned, too, and my doctor's office was running dental specials in February...do you see where this is going?  Mom figured to get everything taken care of at once.  But on my gotcha day, mom???  Sheesh!

Now here I am, a week later, with a sparkling smile and sporting a bit of a Frankenlabbie look.

We got the call on Monday that all of my lumps were benign, so all is good!

Mom says that if she couldn't see my stitchies, she wouldn't think I'd had surgery.  Yeah, it takes a lot to slow this Lab down!  I especially get excited when mom comes home in the afternoon and takes off the cone.  I guess I'm not supposed to run or jump...well...I'm not jumping at any rate...

At least my gotcha day wasn't a total wash.
Mom brought back some soovenir toys for me!

My Chile Walrus and Texas Sock Monkey.
You can tell Sock Monkey is from Texas cause he's so big :)

AND mom took a couple of days off of work just to take special care of me right after my surgery.

I get my stitchies out next week on Tuesday.  I can't wait!  This being calm and no playing is really boring!  And, I have to say, I think mom is having too much fun dressing me up in t-shirts and stuff!

I do wanna say thanks to everybuddy for the well wishes and concern.  I really am feeling just great.  Mom made this movie to show where my stichies are and how I am still moving around normally and as crazy as ever (her words), bol!

Woofs,
~Wriggley

Toesday with Minnie

Yello!
My pawsies and I have another special post today.  I had to ask Wriggley to help me out so iffen you don't mind, you'll mostly be seein him and his pawsies.
See, our furriend Roo is lookin for a less stressful way to have his nails trimmed.  Wriggley said he'd share how he files his own nails!

For the record, I chew trim my own nails too.

hee hee!
*************************************************

You may find it hard to believe that a nice pup like me would turn into  a growling snarling ball of whitehot canine terror when mom comes near me with the nail clippers.  Mom showed me how I can file my own nails down while she figures a way to convince me that the clippers and such are ok.

I'll tell you what we did, but first I gotta say that this whole nail file idea wasn't my mom's.  She found some information on the innernets and one site in particular to mention is Shirley Chong.

The first thing to do is make your file.  You need a piece of wood - the size depends on you.  Mine is a bit narrow for me, but mom just made it with a scrap piece of wood she had on hand.  Then you need to get some outdoor tread/safety grit tape.  You can find this at a hardware store or online.  Make sure you get the black stuff cause it has the best texture for filing.  Stick the tape to your piece of wood.  Here mom made a bigger file for me...

Er, mom seems to have a habit of not getting enough of the tape...
Anyways, now you're ready to file!

Mom used targeting to teach me to paw the file.  Use whatever method that will encourage you to paw at your file and keep it fun.

As I figured out what I was supposed to be doing for the treats, mom took away the target and also made me do more paw swipes before I'd get my reward.  I tend to get pretty excited when we do this so mom usually rewards me with toys instead of treats.  Before I knew it, I was filing my nails!

A direct link to the movie is here.

I don't know how to do my back paws.  Mom says I have no rear-end awareness hasn't figured out how to teach me so I'll understand what to do.  My regular walks seem to keep them trim.  This is what my front nails look like:

I'm a bit tentative filing my "lucky paw" where I lost a toe, but I can still keep those nails trim enough.  We play this game every few days to weekly to whenever mom thinks about it!  Frequent and short sessions are best especially when you are just learning.

Roo buddy, I hope this helps you, and any other pup out there.
Have a good Toesday, everybuddy!

Woofs,
~Wriggley

Toesday with Minnie

Yello!  It's, me again, Minnie!
I'm just about to get comfy on mom to watch some movies.

Hang on...

ahhh!

That's better!
Hey!  Speaking of movies, I made a movie!  Of my pawsies!
I thought it would be fun to show you my pawsies live, so to speak, instead of just pic-shers.

(Click here for a direct link.)

Can't you just feel the velvety softness?  :-D

I edited out a lot of mom playin with my feets.  But you can see what we all have to put up with around here.  Hee hee!  Actually, I am pretty tollerant when it comes to my pawsies... just so long as you don't try clippin my clawrs or anything like that.
So feel free to grab a hold!

Have a fun Toesday!
